Improving sexual & reproductive health and HIV prevention among young people in Eastern and Southern Africa. High HIV incidence and early unintended pregnancy rates as well as other limitations of young people’s SRHR remain core challenges in Eastern and Southern Africa. Therefore, under the leadership of UNAIDS, supported by UNESCO, UNFPA, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), SIDA, WHO, and a number of bi- and multilateral partners as well as civil society organisations, the ESA Initiative was launched.
